Hello, mystery creator!

Thank you so much for writing for me this nonconathon; as you may have already guessed, I was very excited about the changes to the rules regarding original work. With fanfic, I can be quite particular about what characters I'll put into which very specific types of noncon scenarios. With original fiction, on the other hand, I am very, very flexible. The original fiction "pairings" tend to be prompts unto themselves so if you have an idea you're excited to write for a ship we matched on, I welcome most anything you want to throw at me!

I was going to write a big entry last week summarizing my trip to Boston but I just, didn't feel like doing that! I had a super great time and saw ALMOST every friend I planned on (Dani, Cassie, June, but no Eric due to weather) and really enjoyed the volunteer thing Yrin and I did most of the day on Sunday, but I'd just... Talked about it enough directly to friends that I didn't feel like rehashing it.

Which is fine, I guess. I've honestly been in such a great mood ever since last Friday and so mostly, I want to talk about that.

As promised, I present to dreamwidth the following: my intended reading list for 2019!

I have chosen to color-code it to communicate my own progress; anything in plain text has yet to be read, anything in red is currently in progress, and anything in green has been completed. I will not be REMOVING anything from this list, however, I may add more books if anything comes up during the year that seems worth preemptively recommending. I will try to keep it updated with my progress; if I read something not on this list and didn't find it worth sharing, that book will not be added.

I make no guarantees that I will read and finish all of these books in 2019 (or possibly ever) but this is the list of novels I'm excited to read and which I would be excited to talk about with friends! I know a formal book club is a big commitment so rather than trying to organize anything like that, I hope folks will join me for this kind of, opening the doors for informal book discussion.

In light of the fact that I cannot write a brief discussion of literature to save my life, I bring to you now: the second half of my 2018 literary year in review. My previous post consisted of mini-reviews of every book I completed in 2018; in this post I offer you commentary on the books I began in 2018 but am still in the process of reading for 2019.

As previously mentioned, some of these books I am still very much excited to read and I simply put them on hold in favor of something else I wanted to read more, or because the tone of the book was something I was no longer in the best frame of mind to consume. Other books on this list — a few, not many — I didn't turn out to be so much of a fan of. Even so, there is only one book here which I don't plan to finish. Everything else on this list I would recommend reading, depending on your personal taste.

I am quite late for a yearly review of the novels I read in 2018 but in my defense, I have had this planned since the last week of December. There are always memes about writing and reading and art that go around leading up to new year's and I couldn't find one that was quite what I wanted, so I made my own.

I'm the sort of person who always has a dozen different books in progress because I'll hop to something new every time my mood changes and am always reaching to read something that hits a specific tonal note. To that end, I present two lists: the list of books I completed in 2018, and the list of books I was reading in 2018 but which I have yet to finish. I'll be writing little mini-reviews of each; with the ongoing reads, some of them I'm still very excited about, some I got burnt out on for one reason or another and may or may not finish.

For a number of years I hadn't been reading much and since maybe 2016 I resolved to start reading more again. I use my library's digital lending system a ton for checking out ebooks and each year I've been reading more than the year before. I wish I did a roundup for 2016 and 2017 but I wasn't back in the swing of journaling yet; I hope that after 2018, I'll do one of these at the end of 2019 as well!

This post contains only the list of books I completed in 2018. In light of the fact that I am a walking TL;DR and cannot keep a post about literature brief to save my life, I am splitting the list of books in progress off onto a separate post, to be completed at a later date. I hope you, dear readers, enjoy this discussion of the books I finished.

Time to try to get back into the swing of weekly updates! I have no idea what the hell I've been up to for the past... Month and a half, really, it's all blurred into a bit of a fugue. But that's fine, it'll be fun, we will figure out what I have been doing with my life together!

( This only sounds a LITTLE bit alarming right... )

I love Iruma Jyuto and in this essay I will... detail the circumstances under which he can be shipped with any and every other member of the Hypnosis Mic cast.

Or: I wanted to write a proper character essay about Jyuto, seeing as he is my favorite character in Hypnosis mic and seeing as I have a vast number of opinions about how I feel he "works" in terms of motivations and personality, but couldn't. The nature of hypmic as a canon makes it very difficult to cite all the superfluous bits and pieces of canon, many of them trivia that only exists floating around on twitter in translations of interviews, that I have based my interpretation on. So instead what I ended up writing is this: a messy essay on how Iruma Jyuto can be shipped with literally every other member of the cast.

And in reality I only wrote this for an RP ad whose goal was "I want to RP Jyuto and will RP Jyuto against literally whoever you want to write, I can make any ship work and have fun with it, hit me up, let's do this." So it's not really an "essay" so much as an exhaustive list of premises someone could RP but I figured I might as well preserve it and share it with friends. After all, it does also have some utility as a huge list of potential writing prompts! If you have read this and would like to RP any of these scenarios, or present to me a new and interesting Jyuto/anyone shipping scenario... Poke me in the comments I'm always hungry for more.

A last additional disclaimer: I didn't do a section for Ichijiku because if I'm going to do Ichijiku/Jyuto I just want to do the whole thing myself, I know where I live with femdom.

I haven't felt like writing a journal update in a while. Back in September I know I was just really burnt out and depressed and it is what it is, but then I didn't feel like writing updates in October either and by then I was feeling better. I keep myself very busy so technically speaking there's always something to report about, but it's kind of... The same something, slightly repackaged, week after week and it gets boring to talk about.

If I'm bored writing it, why should anyone else want to read about it? (ah, a sentiment that applies to creative writing just as well as personal journaling!)

But now I'm taking another twitter hiatus and have more than two months of unaccounted for LIFE BULLSHIT so like, surely at this point there is something worth being excited about.

Welcome to my last before-the-deadline panic scream about tenipuri big bang! I don't want to do a journal update for this week because I will have to stare in the face how little writing I have done relative to how much of the story I have left to write! Help me!

Weekly update time! I am going to attempt not to let this entry devolve into one long panic scream about my writing schedule and about trying to meet the big bang deadlines, but... There's a really good chance a large percentage of it is going to be screaming about the big bang. The posting date is first week of August! Come first week of August -- ideally -- I and also you will be free of big bang hell!
