First and foremost, thank you for writing for me, anonymous stranger!

I'm always awfully long-winded with letters, so I'll try to make this one as comprehensive as possible, and make my extra info as optional as possible. My sign-up itself has prompts for all of my ships, but here you will find extra info on my reading preferences, my thoughts on these canons, and my thoughts on the characters themselves.

If you would like to read a post on my general likes and dislikes in fiction, that can be found here.

If you're considering writing an AU and would like to read a post on the sorts of AUs I like and dislike, that can be found here.

For easy reference, my hard list of no's is the following: gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

Beyond that general info, my opinions about my fandoms are below. I invite you to read whichever sections are relevant to those series we match on, and am very excited that one of these series I'm very fond of is something you're interested in as well!

Hello, mystery creator!

First and foremost, allow me to thank you for writing for me. We've matched on a series I have a great fondness for, and I think that's really great. The theme of my requests this exchange seems to primarily be "ladies I adore" and I hope you love these characters just as much as I do.

Optional details are always optional, so if you have an idea you really love, go for it! All I ask of you, above all else, is that you avoid the following: gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

If you'd like a general idea of my likes and dislikes in fic, expanded upon at what I admit is somewhat exhaustive length, I refer you to this post here. If AUs are something you fancy — and I do fancy them, you can rarely go wrong writing me an AU especially one you're really excited about — I refer you to this post where I talk about the types of AUs I love and why. (if nothing else, the "do not want" list of AUs will serve you well, if writing an AU fic.)

I know I rushed my actual signup on AO3 so this letter is everything you have to go on. (And I'm super late posting it because fun facts, I accidentally deleted the original post I made on DW and had to email the mods to add this new link to my signup. That mess threw me off my game writing this for A While.)

Without further ado, I present to you: my fandoms, my feelings on the ships I've requested, and some prompt ideas if you'd like somewhere to start from.

Anyway! That all said — and I know it was a lot to say, so if you've read all of it (or even just the main section and one fandom section because, WOW, takes a moment to breathe) — the main thing I'm dying to see is fic that celebrates character. I know that whoever you are, dear mystery gifter, you're chomping at the bit to get writing, and have kindly waited for me to finish this up. Thank you for considering what I have to say and for waiting for this letter, I'm very excited to see what you produce!

Hello, mystery creator!

Before anything else, I'd like to thank you for writing for me. I signed up for this exchange at the very last minute and scrambled to get this letter together, so I am sorry in advance if it's a mess. If you have an idea you're excited about for any of my requests, go for it! If not, I'll try and give you some ideas about the kind of fic I'd love to read.

All I really ask of you is that you avoid the following: gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

That said, for a more specific summation of my likes and dislikes in fiction, I refer you to this post here. If you enjoy writing AUs, I love reading them! There are a few that I'm not a big fan of and I talk about that here, as well as about the types of AUs I adore and my favorite things to see from them.

(I definitely don't expect you to read all of that unless you're feeling Really Thorough, but hey, pick out the bits that will help you. I for one am Very Thorough.)

Beyond these generalities, I'd like to talk a little about each of the fandoms I've requested, and give a few optional prompts you might use for inspiration.

Anyway! That all said, I'm really excited to see whatever you make for me!! Characters are my primary focus in any media I truly adore and when it really comes down to it, if you write the characters I've requested with thoughtfulness and compassion I am sure to love whatever you create.

Hello, mystery creator!

First of all, let me thank you for creating something for me in this exchange! I love daiya a whole lot, and among my friends who are into the series kuraryou is that one ship that seems to unite us all. No matter what else everyone might ship, we all can agree that kuraryou is pretty great.

That said, on with the letter! FYI there are NSFW mentions toward the end )

Anyway, thank you for reading this horrifically long, crying letter about kuraryou, and thank you in advance for creating for me! I'm very excited to see whatever it is you will have made.

Hello, mystery creator!

Thank you so much for writing for me in this exchange. I'm a little bit sorry for my signup, which boils down to "I really hope you like Tanba and cross-fandom crackpairs because BOY DO I LOVE THEM." You're a trooper for getting matched with someone as ridiculous as I am and for trying to make me something nice in spite of that, haha.

For once, I made my signup itself pretty comprehensive. I wrote a little bit about the dynamic I see between each ship I requested, and for most of my requests I also gave a few prompts for scenarios I think would be fun to read about. If any of those things inspire you, great! If you have your own super awesome idea for one of these ships, that's also great! As long as you consider the things I like and avoid everything I really dislike, I'm sure I'll love whatever you create.

That said, the things I would prefer to absolutely not see in fanwork are the following: gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

If you'd like a little more information on my tastes, please read this post about things I like and dislike seeing in fanfiction. In general, I love character-focused stories, strong narrative voices, thoughtful pacing, experimental plot structures (if you think you can pull it off), innovative language and vivid descriptions, and anything that plays with reader expectations only to subvert them in interesting ways.

In terms of content, I love themes about friendship and teamwork, rivalry and competition; I love explorations of leadership, authority, and mentorship, and I love to see power dynamics and mindgames playing out between characters. I love really fraught, tense relationships where characters challenge and push each other, but I also love quiet moments between characters with a focus on caretaking and domesticity.

In my sign-up, I put down that I'm fine with receiving manga spoilers, or with my creator avoiding them. This is true, but at the time of writing this letter I am anime-only. I'm not fussed about manga facts turning up in a story for me, but I would rather not receive something that's entirely focused around a single manga-only event. I'm just not interested in that kind of really strict-to-canon story in general.

If you'd like to write something compatible with canon, I gave a lot of prompts for that and I do love pre-canon explorations, future fic, and getting together stories. On the other hand, if you're even passingly interested in writing an AU, boy would I love to read one!! Please consider reading this post about the kinds of AUs I like and what I like to see in them, though the cliff notes version is: fantasy, science fiction, anything to do with crime (yakuza, mob, police, spies).

Anyway, this is all of the general stuff! I'm not going to expand on my prompts besides what I put in my sign-up, I just wanted the space to give my creator a little more comprehensive an idea of my taste. But on the off-chance you would like just one place to refer back to, all of my prompts are under the cut. Thanks again for writing for me!

Here they are, the prompts )

Hello, mystery creator!

Sports anime is my home, and as such this is one of my favorite exchanges. Whichever fandom(s) we've matched on, I'm very excited to see what you might create for me. Every character I've requested is one I really love within their series, and while I've specified ships I like between these characters, I will be equally happy whether I receive gen fic or ship fic. The way to my heart is definitely through giving these characters I love space to shine!

With sports anime, I tend to prefer more light-hearted content that's in keeping with the tone of the shows themselves. I love the themes of teamwork and friendship and competition, and I love seeing how characters push each other and grow together. For specific info on what I like and dislike seeing in stories, please read this post here.

If you read nothing else from my letter or my other links, however, please consider this: I would like for you to avoid any content with gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

Outside of that, if you have a great idea for a fic about characters I've requested, feel free to ignore everything else I've said! Any story you're excited about writing is one I will be excited about reading.

But if you don't have an idea already, please read on while I talk about my interests with each of the fandoms I've requested. On the off-chance you love AUs, I do too! If you're interested in writing an AU fic, please consider reading this post where I talk about AUs I like and dislike, and things I enjoy seeing in different AUs. And while it's a long shot, I'm including a little section at the end of my letter for crossovers between my fandoms, because hope springs eternal and if you know both fandoms involved, perhaps you'll be inspired.

And with that all said, let's talk specifics.

Hello, mystery creator!

Thank you very much for writing for me. The fact that we've been matched means that we share a love of a fandom that's dear to my heart, and that's really cool. I've been trying to streamline the way in which I write "dear author" letters, so this go-around will be a little different.

For a lengthy, comprehensive post about my likes and dislikes in fiction, please go here. The "likes" section details general things I enjoy in stories as well as themes I'm a fan of, on the off-chance you find that a useful jumping-off point. The "dislikes" section explains why I dislike the things that I dislike.

If you ignore every single other thing that I say, please read only this: I would like for you to avoid any content with gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.

These generalities covered, I prefer to use my signup itself to cover why I like the ships that I chose and to talk a bit about the kind of dynamic I see between the characters. If that primer gives you some ideas, great! If not, I'll use this space to give a few more specific prompts, and to talk about any things I'd prefer for you to avoid that are specific to any one fandom. If you're a fan of AUs, so am I! For most of my fandoms I would be delighted to read an AU fic, and I have a post here where I talk about the AUs that I like and the sorts of things I like to see in them.

With that all said, let's talk about my fandoms.

Hello there, mystery creator!

I've gotten really long-winded in my exchange letters, so I'll try and reel this one in. First, thank you so much for writing for me! I love all the series I've requested from a great deal, and I'm glad we've connected on one of these fandoms. I'm sure whatever you write will be lovely, so I'd just like to use this space to talk about things I generally like and dislike to see in stories, and give some little scenario suggestions in case you'd like a place to start.

Onward with the letter! )

Hello there, mystery creator!

I tried to put a bit of information in my sign-up requests, but I'm always so happy to have the space to talk directly about what I love and loathe in exchange stories. I absolutely adore sports series in general because the format really appeals to me, and because the themes of teamwork, competition, and friendship are exactly what I love in stories. Hopefully since you're also participating with this exchange, our tastes will overlap nicely!

Also wow I'm sorry in advance for how long this is, I'm just assuming that you're matched with me based on one or two fandoms and can skip the parts of this for ones you don't know.

But let's continue on to more specifics )
