The Real Last Hiatus Update of 2018!

I lied, I didn't expect to have the stamina to write a journal entry this week so the last one was gonna be the last life update for the year but actually... My twitter hiatus has left me with a decent bit of free time and spare energy, so here we are.

This might even be fast, compared to how TL;DR my life entries usually are.

I'm gonna do this one broken down by day of the week, that's always good for a quick and dirty overview of what I've been up to.

Friday: Spent a horrifying amount of time reading Ninefox Gambit. I actually straight up do not remember what else I did besides go to work and read Ninefox Gambit. No regrets; this series of books is MIND BLOWINGLY AMAZING.

Saturday: Play with mom and my aunt! We saw Gem of the Ocean at Roundhouse and it was very good. There was actually less racial commentary than I was expecting but more class commentary, and just, some good stuff about having to find your place in society and live in a way where you can be right with yourself. We got farm to table fast-fire pizza for lunch and afterward I went to visit with dad. We had dinner together and I ACTUALLY watched a UMD basketball game, like... Paid attention and enjoyed witnessing a sport, how novel.

Sunday: crepes for breakfast, more parking practice with dad, then driving myself home from dad's house. Yet more voracious reading of Ninefox Gambit.

Monday: Christmas eve! Mom came to get allergy shots with me early in the morning, then we went up toward Baltimore to get delicious crepes and go to the mall whose arcade has jubeat. We did a little bit of shopping, saw the special holiday model train garden, and I played jubeat for almost two hours. Then we went back to mom's, got dinner with my sister, and just hung around for the evening after that.

Tuesday: Christmas! My family is not religious and does not do anything special; we opened presents in the morning and had breakfast and then indulged in what mom seems to want our new Christmas tradition to be: going to the movies and getting sushi. We saw Ralph Breaks the Internet, which was super cute and very enjoyable, and got delicious food at the Japanese place down the road. After dinner I returned home for work on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Let's just not even talk about work, shall we. My housemate bought me half a dinner though and that was really good because otherwise I was totally just going to fast my way to breakfast, whoops.

Thursday: Seriously let's just really not talk about work. I watched a dance competition show and terrible old yaoi with Mel and Hedge in the evening, though, and that was nice!

So yeah, overall the hiatus is going very well. I have read a TERRIFYING amount because the Machineries of Empire series is literally designed for me in every horrible, cringe-inducing way the world has been designed, I finished the first book in just a few days and began the second on Monday. It's been sort of lonely compared to other hiatuses because usually I chat with people more on discord but a lot of the people I'd otherwise chat with have been busy for the holidays. And I downloaded a couple manga readers and might? Actually start reading manga again??

I always thought reading manga on a tiny phone screen was too tedious... but there are a lot of OTHER things I always said were too tedious to do on a phone which I now do regularly just because having to get my laptop out is too much bother. I read the ex-yakuza becomes a house husband manga and from there was recced an arranged marriage between grandchildren of two yakuza families manga and oh... my god... it is so laughably designed for me in every way.

I'm gonna have to actually kick my ass to do a half-review, half screaming tirade, type entry for both this manga and Machineries of Empire because I am on a ROLL with consuming media that is laser-targeted toward my aesthetics and interests.

But yeah! That's the update for the week, see y'all in the new year. ♥

The Machineries of Empire books are SO GOOD, both to my specific id and also just in general. I think the third one might be my favorite but it's really hard to choose.

Happy new year, and good luck with everything in 2019!
