ShipSwap: Dear Author Letter
Hello, mystery creator!
Thank you very much for writing for me. The fact that we've been matched means that we share a love of a fandom that's dear to my heart, and that's really cool. I've been trying to streamline the way in which I write "dear author" letters, so this go-around will be a little different.
For a lengthy, comprehensive post about my likes and dislikes in fiction, please go here. The "likes" section details general things I enjoy in stories as well as themes I'm a fan of, on the off-chance you find that a useful jumping-off point. The "dislikes" section explains why I dislike the things that I dislike.
If you ignore every single other thing that I say, please read only this: I would like for you to avoid any content with gratuitous angst for angst's sake, rape, abuse, physical assault, terminal or mental illnesses, homophobia as a plot device, jealousy as a plot device, pregnancy or child-rearing, and foot fetishes.
These generalities covered, I prefer to use my signup itself to cover why I like the ships that I chose and to talk a bit about the kind of dynamic I see between the characters. If that primer gives you some ideas, great! If not, I'll use this space to give a few more specific prompts, and to talk about any things I'd prefer for you to avoid that are specific to any one fandom. If you're a fan of AUs, so am I! For most of my fandoms I would be delighted to read an AU fic, and I have a post here where I talk about the AUs that I like and the sorts of things I like to see in them.
With that all said, let's talk about my fandoms.
Ships Requested: Akira/Hikaru, Kishimoto/Mitani, Ogata/Akira
Spoiler Policy: Everything is fair game. I've watched the anime all the way through three times and have done multiple partial rewatches, while also having read the manga (though that was ten years ago, so I'm foggy on end-of-series events). Hit me with your best shot.
AU Policy: I love AUs! The sky is the limit here, and with this fandom I would prefer an AU story to a canon story. However, if you are more comfortable writing a canon-compliant fic, please don't worry, I will also love anything written in that vein.
Additional Prompts:
-Akira and Hikaru living together, having quiet moments, doing basic domestic things; this is the easy way to my heart, bonus points for bickering all the while.
-Akira and Hikaru working Go into their sex life in some way.
-The reality where all of Ogata's coaching Akira through his rivalry with Hikaru is because Ogata is Interested in Akira, and wants Akira to know where he stands with the other important person in his life before making a move.
-Some form of poly thing when everyone is older and professional Go players because I find the idea of Hikaru/Akira/Ogata to be fascinating and would like to see the contrast of how Akira and Hikaru relate to each other versus how they relate to Ogata.
-Akira eventually takes one of Ogata's titles from him. How does this affect whatever relationship they have at the time?
-Kishimoto and Mitani meeting up in high school or university and finding out they both still play Go in some capacity. How have things changed? How have they stayed the same?
-Anything with Kishimoto and Mitani focusing on what it means to be an "amateur" and to be certain you will never rise above your current level of skill.
-Mitani fighting to prove himself to Kishimoto, either in general or in the bedroom.
Ships Requested: Hiruma/Agon
Spoiler Policy: I'm a manga reader, for once. (literally no one prefers the anime, do they?) No worries about spoilers, and if there's any supplemental canon I don't know about, that's also fair game.
AU Policy: Bring it on! Feel free to refer to my AU masterpost but with these two, I'm the most interested in any AU that will highlight their potential as rivals. I want to see Hiruma and Agon compete! Rival crime lords, rival pokemon trainers, rival psychics, anything in this vein will be utterly delightful.
Additional Prompts:
-Agon and Hiruma trying to psych each other out before a match, bring on the mindgames and psychological warfare.
-Any non-football instance of Agon and Hiruma running mindgames on each other. Maybe they just love the thrill of the competition in any arena.
-Hatesex. My headcanon for Hiruma is that he's asexual but not sex-repulsed and specifically views sex as "just another weapon in the metaphorical arsenal." Show me Hiruma and Agon fucking for leverage, fucking as a way of figuring each other out, fucking as a means of getting the upper hand.
-Agon or Hiruma indisputably getting the better of the other. The "what" and the "how" can be anything, and I'm equally happy to see either at advantage. Just show me what the other does when he's actually backed into a corner.

Spoiler Policy: I've played the SB69 game some, but as I don't read Japanese, I haven't really gotten any content out of that. If you'd like to bring in any game-related or otherwise miscellaneous canon, have at it, but I'm primarily here for the anime.
AU Policy: For this fandom, I'm not especially interested in AUs. If you'd like to write a canon-divergent or what-if style AU, that would be delightful, but canon-compliant is definitely my preference here.

-Cyan getting close to and beginning to date real world Retoree after she returns from the music world.
-Get-together fic set after Cyan and Retoree's big fight about how Cyan will eventually be leaving, along the lines of "we've made up and I accept that you have to go someday, but in the meantime, I still like you."
-Anything that facilitates cute cuddling and first kisses and awkward dates, this is my sweet F/F ship I am easy to please I swear.
-Anything that incorporates how Retoree is a huge otaku. And she does start off taking a lot of pictures of Cyan without Cyan's permission so fic that addresses (and possibly clears up) that would be super great.
-Fic in which Retoree consensually takes a bunch of pictures of Cyan in various cute outfits. Bonus points for it being Retoree's idea but for her being the one Absolutely Dying over cute girlfriend overload.
-Gross power dynamics shit where Dagger Morse uses Grateful King's contract to leverage him into things. Demeaning things. Possibly sex things. I'm really sorry.
-Gross power dynamics shit where despite his position of disadvantage, Grateful King manages to leverage and get the better of Dagger Morse. "How" and "about what" entirely up to your descretion.
-Post-finale fic with a power reversal where Grateful King attempts to rehabilitate Dagger Morse now that he's been weakened / reverted to weird adorable chibi jellyfish form.
Ships Requested: Rider/Waver
Spoiler Policy: I'm anime-only and have not played the VN game or consumed any supplemental material for the series. I know the Fate/Zero anime best, though I've also watched some of the original Fate/Stay Night anime back when it was airing as well as the reboot. Feel free to work in any supplemental canon that helps you tell your story, but please do your best to ensure it makes sense to an anime-only fan.
AU Policy: For this fandom, I'm not interested in non-canon AUs. I am, however, very interested in what-if or canon-divergent styles of AU. Veer from the original Fate story as far as you like, as long as what you write is still set in the universe of the holy grail war, and as long as Waver and Rider are still themselves.
Additional Prompts:
-Anything focusing on and expanding Waver's swearing fealty to Rider.
-Canon-divergent AU where Waver summons Rider into a different class, or where another Master summons Rider and Waver summons someone else — how do they build a relationship in that circumstance?
-More really ordinary, mundane moments between Waver and Rider, like when they go shopping to buy Rider that videogame.
-First Time. Sometimes I'm easy, and I want to see how it goes, how does the trust and loyalty between them play into the bedroom? How does Rider handle Waver in this different context? What is the balance of power like?
-Most anything exploring the balance of power between Rider and Waver and how it changes, as well as how it isn't so simple as "master and servant."
Ships Requested: Furuya/Miyuki, Kataoka/Miyuki, Tanba/Miyuki
Spoiler Policy: I'm anime-only, and I'm not entirely current on that at present. I hope to be by the time gifts are revealed. However, I'm not especially fussed about spoilers and have had a lot of things spoiled already; really the only thing worth avoiding is manga-only game results.
AU Policy: Entirely welcome and loved! I feel like with Kataoka/Miyuki and Tanba/Miyuki I'm more interested in canon-compliant content because there's much less of it available, but while I'll take canon-compliant fic about Furuya/Miyuki as well as AUs, I'll take AUs about these ships as well as canon-based fics. In fact, if you have an AU idea you really love for Kataoka/Miyuki or Tanba/Miyuki I'm all the more excited for the novelty.
Additional Prompts:
-Future fic where Kataoka ends up coaching again and Miyuki is either an assistant coach or in Rei's role of scout for the school. How does this affect whatever relationship they have? I'm equally interested in established or developing relationship.
-Does Furuya ever tell Miyuki straight out that he came to Seidou specifically so Miyuki would catch his pitch? What does Miyuki make of this?
-Anything that really focuses on times when Furuya fails to see Miyuki entirely as a person.
