Last Week's Update Except Later

It would have been cool if I actually wrote an update last week, huh? I'm pretty bummed about it, because I've missed weeks for stuff I planned (I knew I wouldn't update from Boston, and I knowingly chose to write meta instead of a life update one other week) but this is the first time where I missed a weekly update without intending it since I committed to doing this at the start of the year.

The reason I missed last week's update is because my work ruined my ability to DO work on Thursday and Friday to the point where I couldn't even do my self-assigned at-work journaling here so, that happened.

But before I get to that, let's recount how my past week and a half has been!

The weekend BEFORE this one, I wanted to bike on Friday, but after going for allergy shots with mom and getting bubble tea and DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS SHAVE ICE I was far too full of shave ice to bike without vomiting, so. That got postponed until Saturday.

On Saturday I went down to the waterfront and for the first time followed the trail past it, which as it turns out only continues for another half a mile before dropping you onto some back roads by a park in that area. I followed the back roads for a bit until I got to the nearest main road and also came upon a cemetery, before turning back and, after taking a little rest at the waterfront, went home for the day. It was a bit over fifteen miles all told and a really good time, even if not a lot came out of my exploring past the part of the trail I already know.

As it turns out, the trail actually continues past the waterfront on the OTHER side of the river, so eventually I'm gonna try following that part of the trail a bit farther.

I also felt like it was potentially shady to bike through a cemetery, but at least ACCORDING TO STRAVA, the paths through the cemetery are pretty well-traveled by cyclists and it does look like... A fun ride... If you enjoy zipping around between fields of gravestones, anyway. (I'm really tempted to do that ride sometime but I'm very nervous about someone yelling at me for being disrespectful. Please just let me bike with the dead, it'll be fine, I promise.)

Sunday was kind of my designated lie-on-my-face day, I never managed to coordinate with friends so I didn't end up going out. I at least got all of my intended housechores done the next day, and put linux on my chromebook, something I'd meant to do for almost a year! So that was productive.

Monday I also went to the library as planned, to write for the big bang. I did ass myself to bike there, and I did better on the climbs than the last time I tried to bike to the library! I was incredibly sweaty and disgusting when I arrived and I had to wait my turn for a study room but I wrote like 800 whole words and it was just... Nice to have the change of scenery. I often have a hard time getting started with writing projects and part of it is that I do need the kick in the pants that is a change of location, a change of SOME VARIETY, and I'm glad I was able to give myself that.

Tuesday I did nothing of value. It was the last day of the tenirabi event so I spent my evening aggressively event dying for beautiful perfect luck Taka and I have no regrets.

Wednesday was therapy, and afterwards I treated myself to Panera in DC so I could write in the restaurant. That was also fairly productive! I am genuinely very excited to work on my big bang story! It was really refreshing to realize that it was late, and I needed to leave the restaurant to get home, but that I didn't want to stop writing, I was genuinely just very motivated.

On my walk home I called Mels, also, which was nice.

And then Thursday and Friday work ruined my life. We will not talk about the hot mess that was Thursday and Friday, I was Incredibly Snippy with every single person who interacted with me face to face and just thinking about it makes my blood pressure rise. It was... Not a good time.

I did write at home Thursday night, though! I realized that writing outside in my backyard is VERY PRODUCTIVE for me, just in time for the weather to give us non-stop rain every night for a week and a half. So like, thanks for nothing.

Saturday I biked to the waterfront again! I left too late to explore farther, but it was a satisfying weekend bike. And then after dinner Samy and I watched the Rikkai regionals stageplay and that was, so good, I'm glad we finally coordinated to do another tenimyu. And I wrote a little outside when we were done! It was a very productive evening!!

Sunday I intended to be a writing day but the weather got gross and I was unmotivated so instead of writing I caught up on the past five or six weeks of Darling in the Franxx and then watched six episodes of the pseudo-incest yuri, Citrus, because I only watch anime that are bad when I feel bad. But also I sincerely love darlifra despite acknowledging that it is in fact a hot goddamn mess of gender essentialism so like, don't look at me.

Monday was yet more allergy shots with mother, I love when we start a new vial of serum and have to start coming more often for several weeks, again!! Shots on Friday and again on Monday wasn't my favorite thing but my "doing a fun thing with mom vaguely in the spirit of mother's day" suggestion was for mom to go swimming with me at the Aquatic Fitness Center I only just realized is near my house, which was. Wonderful. I've missed swimming so much!! I'm horrifically out of shape so I mostly did laps just kicking with a kickboard to preserve my endurance and justify being in the water for a while but I also, did some backstroke!! As a baby on swim team I did backstroke and breaststroke and as it turns out I do nooooot fucking remember how to breathe well for breaststroke and gave up on that one after a lousy 25 meters but I feel... Good doing backstroke... Hums happily.

I also failed to write on Monday so I'm getting jittery about big bang progress but like... I've done 6k words, I'm excited about my story, even if I only have a month and a half to finish a draft and even if I'm anticipating a ~50k word draft, I feel pretty good about things.

I did on the other hand watch another four episodes of trashy yuri on Monday because boy is it some good comfort food.

This entry is a mess, OH WELL OH WELL, it's more holding myself accountable to being a functional human being and Doing Nice Things and writing and such, so. Mission accomplished, thank you for playing along at home.
